corner computer desk out of mitered end countertop and filing cabinets?
any ideas on what to use to raise them up to desk height? We used cans of pop but it looks so tacky, and they are the perfect height. I can hang them on the wall, will that be too lightweight? they would go into studs

You should build a wood frame and sit the countertop on that. The wood frame can then be "skinned" with a lament wood making it look finished.
If your pop cans are the perfect height, then continue using them but decorate them... yep! Just find yourself some MacTac or a really nice wallpaper that fits with the room and wrap the paper around the cans... Be sure to add the same paper in 2 other places in the room to create balance. Here are some ideas: cover a small box used for holding stuff, cover a cardboard magazine holder, use a piece of the paper and frame it, use a piece of the paper and use it in a desk blotter, cover a pen and pencil holder, cover a letter box, etc.

You could put together saw horses, or use the filing cabinet idea, if there is enough leg room underneath.
